City Week enjoys the support of the UK Government, in the form of UK Trade & Investment, as well as that of a large number of UK and international financial services trade associations. Mining as an Industry today is seeing a rising demand from developing countries, especially for precious metals. Over time, the Industry has seen an introduction of tighter regulations; both at a global and regional level. While the Mining sector has advanced in many ways, there are challenges, which need attention.

2nd Annual Global Mining Forum will aim at overcoming these global challenges and identifying opportunities to facilitate better mining practises. Over two days, the forum will present case studies and presentations from global experts within the Industry

On the 16th of December 2011 in the town of Zhanaozen in Mangystau province during the celebration of the Independence day of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Central square a group of former (previously fired) workers of the “OzenMunaiGaz” oil producing enterprise with the support of the hooligan youngsters started mass insurgencies leading to debacles, looting, setting fire and violence against civilians and police officers.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan is open from Monday to Friday (except Wednesdays) between 09.00 and 12.00 for visa and legalisation matters and on Wednesdays between 09.00 and 12.00 for civil matters.
