From Customs Union to Economic one

The beginning of the new year and new decade was marked by the event, which gave start to the formation of a new configuration of economic and political environment as the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as other integration associations. Since January 1, 2010, the Custom Union of three countries - Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia has entered into the phase of real functioning.

KAZAKHSTAN GRAIN EXPORT REACH 4.8 mln TONS

Astana, March 4^th: To date, Kazakhstan has exported 4.8 million tons of grain from the 2009 harvest. This figure represents an increase of 1 mln tons compared to the previous year’s export volume, said Akylbek Kurishbaev, Minister of Agriculture

1 billion US dollars to diversify Kazakhstan economy

The EBRD is supporting the Kazakhstan government’s economic diversification programme. The EBRD aims to invest up to around $1 billion in projects to be identified in collaboration with the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Kazakh National Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna”. A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed on 18th of February 2010 in Astana between the three parties.

EBRD boosts agribusiness in Kazakhstan

Leading business magazine Global Trade Review named the loan to Kazexportastyk one of the Best Deals of 2009. The magazine received thousands of nominations and selected the best 40 deals worldwide, which it believed to best represent the achievements in the trade, export and commodity finance market across the globe in 2009.

OSCE CHAIRPERSON MEETS ARMENIAN LEADERSHIP

Astana, 17 February: The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Secretary of State and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Kanat Saudabayev, visited Armenia yesterday and emphasized the importance of building trust between the sides in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He also praised steps towards the normalization of relations with Turkey
